Supergirl Season 6: Six characters who should return for the final season
By Monita Mohan
2. Cat Grant
Who knew Calista Flockhart’s return to our screens would leave such a lasting impact on comic book fans’ hearts? As Cat Grant, Founder and CEO of CatCo, Flockhart brought the right combination of arrogance and heart, effortlessly balancing humour with sophistication.
Cat Grant was not shy of flaunting her intelligence. She had worked hard to make her company a giant in its field, to become “The Queen of all Media” and the showrunners weren’t afraid to demonstrate that. The simple fact that the Cat Grant on Supergirl was allowed to be a middle-aged woman and not yet another millennial meant that there was an older character to aspire to.
Fans didn’t know what they were missing till Flockhart left Supergirl after just one season. Every time she returned, in a cameo or as a guest star, Flockhart stole the show. Cat gave Supergirl a platform and returned later to effectively end a war. No wonder she became the President’s aid; there’s little Cat can’t do.
Cat Grant is probably blazing more trails away from CatCo, but the final season of the show deserves some of her inspiring, hard-hitting anecdotes that reflect the reality we live in. She could unveil the real intentions behind Lex Luthor’s actions, or out Leviathan. Anything is possible, as long as Cat Grant is given a handful of substantial episodes to star in.
