10. Barry and Iris promise to find each other

Following Barry’s realization that Mirror Iris wasn’t actually his wife, the pair faced off in an exceptional fight scene that looked like it belonged more in Terminator 2: Judgment Day than it did The Flash but it resulted in a moving moment in which the Iris lookalike told the Scarlet Speedster to find his wife, sacrificing herself in the process.

With Barry now fully aware of what was happening, he emotionally opened up to the mirror before him not even knowing if his wife was able to hear him on the other end. But she could hear him and she echoed everything he said, promising to find a way out of there so that the two could, yes, run home to each other.

Thanks to Gustin and Patton’s performances here, the tears were streaming before the episode was finished. Man, it had been a while since West-Allen got us like this!

9. Barry and Iris enter Flashtime

Season 4 wasn’t the show’s strongest but it did have an array of wonderful West-Allen moments sprinkled throughout and this was one of the very best.

With Clifford DeVoe‘s plan to wrongly convict Barry of murder working all too well, Iris decided that enough was enough and attempted to tell the court that her husband was framed because he was The Flash. However, Barry couldn’t let her risk her own life – and anyone else’s – so he quickly stopped her before anyone could see.

Entering Flashtime for the first time ever, the pair shared a beautiful and tearful temporary goodbye as Iris promised to fight for her husband on the outside. A poignant moment that set the stage for West-Allen to conquer this conundrum in spite of the mounting odds.
