The Flash: 10 best Barry and Iris West-Allen moments
2. Barry proposes to Iris
They say the perfect proposal doesn’t exist, but allow this writer to draw your attention to this complete masterpiece.
Taking place in the closing moments of The Flash‘s delightful musical crossover with Supergirl, Barry took it upon himself to start singing – not because he was trapped in a mental musical, but because he wanted to serenade the woman he wanted to call his wife. And as Grant Gustin’s voice gave us all goosebumps and the looks on Barry and Iris’ faces melted our hearts, the Scarlet Speedster got down on one knee and proposed to his lightning rod.
“Runnin’ Home To You” is a beautiful composition but it was made all the more beautiful by this absolutely exquisite moment. You just don’t get more endgame than this.
1. Barry and Iris kiss for the first time
The Flash has a habit of making its fifteenth episode a standout one and that was clear from the very start. In an episode in which Iris was beginning to realize that her affection for Barry wasn’t simply platonic, her father was kidnapped by Weather Wizard 2 and Barry attempted to save him. However, unwilling to potentially lose two people she loved, Iris refused to let him go and instead told him how she felt about him.
Barry simply smiled and, in a moment that is still nothing short of goosebump-inducing five years later, he kissed Iris at the waterfront. The music that played as the camera circled the pair made it all the more moving, assuring us that we were watching destiny unfold. And then, to make it all even more jaw-dropping, Barry revealed to her that he was The Flash.
A moment too perfect too soon, it’s such a shame that some timeline-rewriting wrote this out of existence. That said, it will never be written out of our hearts and minds as it was the moment that WestAllen was truly born.
