X-Men: Tye Sheridan reveals if he’ll return as Cylcops in the MCU
We don’t yet know how the Marvel Cinematic Universe will handle the introduction of the X-Men but Cyclops star Tye Sheridan has opened up about whether he’d be up for reprising the role.
The future of the X-Men may be uncertain but we do know that Marvel’s Mightiest Mutants will live on in some capacity on the big screen. The future of Fox’s X-Men franchise, however, well that’s a little less certain.
The X-Men film series dominated Hollywood at a time when successful superhero franchises were far and few between, but the two-decade-old franchise began to slow down significantly in recent years – incredibly ironic given it repopulated its cast with younger versions of the X-Men’s iconic heroes.
With the failure of Dark Phoenix bringing the series to a close – and then the failure of spin-off New Mutants pretty much solidifying that – the rights were reverted back to Marvel in the Disney/Fox merger, meaning that it’s highly likely the X-Men will make their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point.
While there’s still some uncertainty as to whether they’ll be new variations of the characters or Marvel will reuse the legacy Fox created, actor Tye Sheridan revealed to ComicBook.com that he would be open to returning to the role of Cyclops.
"“They’re cool movies and they have cool characters with superpowers but also there are a lot of deeper themes and messages in that franchise that I really appreciate and respect… So as long as we were staying in that realm, you know, of course, I would be open to working and reprising my role further.”"
Sheridan made his debut as Scott Summers/Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse, following on from James Marsden’s performance in the previous movies, and he went on to reprise the role in Dark Phoenix.
The young star did a great job with the role so no doubt fans would be thrilled to see him reprise it in the MCU.
