The CW has yet to make an announcement about the fate of Arrowverse spin-off Green Arrow and The Canaries, so here are five reasons why it must pick it up.

It’s been a year since The CW announced that it had started development on an Arrow spin-off. Titled Green Arrow and The Canaries, the potential Arrowverse offshoot would air a backdoor pilot as part of Arrow‘s final season and star the parent show’s leading lady Katie Cassidy, fellow long-time cast member Juliana Harkavy and season 7 arrival Katherine McNamara.

All three would be reprising their roles from Arrow as Laurel Lance/Black Siren/Black Canary and Dinah Drake/Black Canary made their presence felt in Star City 2040 and reminded the daughter of Oliver Queen all that she had helped accomplish in a different timeline 20 years prior. With that, the three decided to form a team and protect the city that Oliver sacrificed himself for two decades beforehand.

Has Green Arrow and The Canaries been picked up yet?

It’s now been nine months since the backdoor pilot aired and, in spite of critical acclaim and high ratings, The CW has yet to make an announcement on the project’s fate. Granted, it’s not been any normal year but that doesn’t mean that fans wouldn’t like to hear an update – considering they were promised one would come soon back in June.

Fans have been making their voices heard on social media for a long time now, appealing to The CW to pick up with show – and none of them are wrong. With that in mind, let’s take a look at why the network must pick up Green Arrow and The Canaries.
