Tis’ the season once again, darlings. It’s Halloween and we have some scary superhero movies for you!

Granted, it is a much different Halloween than most of us may be used to. The worldwide novel coronavirus outbreak means that we’ll all be staying home as opposed to trick or treating, but fret not, true believers: At the very least, if nothing else, staying home means making room for some scary movie marathons. And if you love a good comic book flick or superhero film (just like the rest of us on this site), then you may want to invest in checking out some scary superhero movies.

The superhero horror sub-genre is a hard genre to come across, but it is nonetheless one that exists. More recently, we saw it in the form of The New Mutants, but the genre has crafted some optimal results over the years.

On that note, let’s feast on some scary superhero movies this Halloween.

Hellboy (2004) / (2019)

Hellboy as a character has arrived on our big screens in two different franchises. Once directed by Guillermo del Toro (plus a sequel) and once in a recent reboot. Both times, these films delivered equal amounts of scares and action.

Most people are going to prefer the 2004 version just on the grounds of Ron Perlman’s perfect performance that works as if he were Hellboy himself lifted straight from the comics, but the 2019 version is entertaining in its own right, especially with David Harbour bringing his own nuances to the character.

Check them both out for yourself this Halloween.
