Loki: Premiere, release date, cast, trailer and more
The MCU’s God of Mischief will return to screens in his very own Disney+ TV series and here’s everything you need to know about the small screen debut of Loki.
Loki will give the spotlight to one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most beloved characters. The mischievous brother of Thor will headline the upcoming Disney Plus series as the MCU moves into its mysterious fourth phase.
Naturally, fans are excited to see the return of Tom Hiddleston’s alluring trickster, but just when will it (and all the promotion and excitement that comes with it) hit screens?
Below, you’ll find all the up-to-date information you need about Loki season 1, its premiere on Disney+, its cast, any trailers and more.
Loki premiere date
Loki will now premiere on Disney Plus on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. It was initially supposed to debut on Friday June 11 but Disney moved it. That could be down to the fact that MCU movie Black Widow will debut on one of those Fridays and perhaps Marvel Studios didn’t want the overlap.
Production on the show is taking place in Atlanta and even though it was suspended due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, its planned premiere was far enough away that it didn’t seem to affect that. Production has since resumed as of September and the six-part series is still pencilled in for the summer.
Loki cast
Loki will be led by Tom Hiddleston – who reprises his role as the God of Mischief from the MCU films.
He will be joined by Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Sasha Lane, though it’s not quite clear who any of those will be playing as of this time. Richard E. Grant will also have a guest role.
Loki trailer
After much anticipation, Marvel Studios and Disney released the very first trailer for Loki during Disney Investor Day and it sent the internet into meltdown.

What is Loki about?
Loki will follow the adventures of Thor’s mischievous brother. However, it won’t be the version that entertained and endeared us in the films – or, the later films, at least. No, this is the Loki that still felt that humanity should bow to him and will no doubt be looking for vengeance fresh off his loss during the battle of Manhattan in The Avengers.
You might remember how the God of Mischief just casually lifted the Tesseract and disappeared into the timeline in Avengers: Endgame. Yes, well, that’s the version of the character that we’ll be dealing with in this show.
While much of the plot remains a mystery at this stage, we do know that this version of the character’s retreat from the timeline robbed him of the redemption arc he was supposed to experience, meaning that he’s undoubtedly got some villainous plans on his mind. We do know that those plans will inevitably lead him to the Time Variance Authority and that he will indeed attempt to change human history along the way.
Check out the official synopsis below:
"After stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame, Loki uses it to travel through time and alter human history."
