The Flash season 7 will wrap up the remainder of season 6’s storylines but new set photos reveal some major changes.

The Flash season 7 is set to arrive on screens in February. The show would usually return in the fall but because of the delays caused by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the show (and TV itself) was significantly impacted. And when the veteran Arrowverse series does return, it will use its first few episodes to wrap up the previous season’s storylines (as season 6 came to an impromptu conclusion because of the production shutdown). However, it seems that things will look a little different than they were once supposed to.

The cast and crew are currently filming the original season 6 finale in which Barry Allen and Team Flash will face off against Mirror Master/Eva McCulloch and new set photos from Canadagraphs reveals that to be the case. That said, they also reveal the presence of Danielle Panabaker’s Killer Frost – who is standing side-by-side with Team Flash.

How The Flash season 7 will change the original season 6 finale

The Flash season 6 never got the chance to close out its narrative the way it wanted to. The production shutdown resulted in the nineteenth episode of the season serving as a last-minute finale instead. It worked, but it also set in motion plans for the original finale – plans that those set photos prove are no longer the direction the creative team is moving in.

You might remember how “Success Is Assured” saw Panabaker’s Caitlin Snow leave Central City with her mother Carla Tannhauser. This was the show’s way of temporarily writing Panabaker out for her maternity leave, meaning that she wouldn’t have been in the original finale.

That episode would have been filmed around late February/early March time and production on the show didn’t resume until last month. Of course, fans knew that the Flash vet would be back for the season 7 episodes, but the decision to rewrite the original season 6 finale to include her is interesting – considering that it probably won’t take place that long after her initial departure.

How will they explain Frost’s sudden return when such effort was put into her temporary departure? Regardless of how they do so, it’s great to have the beloved ice queen back where she belongs!
