The Flash season 7 character preview: Iris West-Allen
What will happen?
This won’t be the case with every character we explore in these character previews, but as of right now, Iris’ role in The Flash season 7 will play out very much like we’re expecting – well, in the beginning of the season, at least.
We know for a fact that the leading lady is coming out of that Mirrorverse. The impromptu finale may have been designed to make it look like the neural dissonance was sending her into oblivion but that was just an inadvertently brilliant cliffhanger. The truth is that Iris will make her way out of the Mirrorverse within the first three episodes. Why? Well, because they technically belong to season 6.
West-Allen will have their heartfelt reunion and all will be right in the world for a moment. But don’t be expecting sunshine and rainbows for the pair as season 7’s first major threat (after Mirror Master, that is) will be the direct result of Eva McCulloch’s defeat and the arrival of this new threat will have repercussions so major that it will put a strain on Barry and Iris’ marriage.
Admittedly, the notion of marriage problems doesn’t sound all that exciting when they’ve been separated for so long, but given that we already know the Arrowverse’s premiere couple are endgame, it could be worth it to see some amazing performances from Candice Patton and Grant Gustin.
As for her reporting? Well, that’s definitely not going anywhere. Look for Iris and the Central City Citizen to be all over this new threat.
