What should happen

It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that there were a lot of arcs in play for Barry Allen in The Flash season 7. The man had to overcome so much – perhaps more consecutive hurdles than ever before – and, like he always does, he successfully did so. But not all of those arcs got the chance to wrap up because of the season’s impromptu finish.

In terms of what should happen with the character in season 7, the first part of that is pretty easy: He should successfully overcome the immediate obstacles left over from the previous episodes. And that means defeating Eva McCulloch/Mirror Master and, of course, reuniting with his beloved Iris.

As for what comes after that? That’s where things get really juicy. We know for a fact that he’s on a collision course with not one but two speedsters and those issues with both must be addressed in season 7. Rumor has it that his long-standing rivalry with Reverse-Flash/Eobard Thawne would have played into the original season finale’s cliffhanger, meaning that we’ll undoubtedly see the two square off again at some point in season 7 instead. The evil speedster always reinvigorates the show just when it’s in need of some life, so it goes without saying that he should once again recur throughout the upcoming season.

But what of the other evil speedster? Well, that’s easy: Godspeed should be the Big Bad of the first half of the season at least. It’s been too long since the show has gifted us with a speedster villain and doing so in a half-season would be just enough of a reward for those of us who waited for it without actually diluting the story.

Also, let’s end the whole “The Flash has lost his speed!” thing for good this time, please.
