This week’s season finale of The Walking Dead: World Beyond featured a jaw-dropping return.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond aired its season finale on TV screens this week. It was quite a thrilling finale that rounded out the show’s divisive first season and set the stage for an interesting second one.

But the double-episode – which consisted of the ninth and tenth episodes “The Deepest Cut” and “In This Life” – also featured a surprising return.

Who returned in the season finale of The Walking Dead: World Beyond?

Just as Elton Ortiz (Nicolas Cantu) found himself face-to-face with a deadly walker/empty, he was unexpectedly rescued by Percy (Ted Sutherland) – who made a return that many weren’t expecting.

More from TV

Percy had been presumed dead when the gang followed his bloody trail through the woods after the death of his uncle Tony (Scott Adsit) and found nothing. It was suggested that Silas (Hal Cumpston) was the one responsible for attacking them. However, it was subsequently revealed in the finale that Percy was, in fact, alive and that he was attacked by Huck (Annet Mahendru).

Saving Elton from an empty, he collapsed from his wounds. For a moment, it looked like he would succumb to them (or fall victim to a horde of empties) but, after Elton looked after him, he regained consciousness and revealed that it was Huck who killed his uncle and shot him.

Percy and Elton are now out in the woods on their own, hoping to track down the rest of the group and reunite with them.

Were there any other returns in The Walking Dead: World Beyond finale?

The other major returns in the finale were in the form of Leo Bennett (Joe Holt) and Will Campbell (Jelani Alladin). Leo was seen at the Civic Republic’s headquarters while Leo escaped from there out of fear that his boyfriend Will and Leo’s children had been killed. The latter was reunited with Will and Iris in the finale’s closing moments.

Some fans were hoping to see an appearance from The Walking Dead‘s Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes himself because he has been associated with the CRM, but even though he didn’t return as many had hoped, there is always the chance he might return in the second season.
