10 more comic book movie and TV characters with wasted potential

Comic book project: Punisher: War Zone
Punisher: War Zone was a failure. It had a $35 million budget and grossed only $10 million worldwide. It starred Ray Stevenson as The Punisher, Dominic West as Jigsaw, and Doug Hutchison as Loony Bin Jim. The three of them were great – each of them played their roles perfectly. When it came to side characters, Dash Mihok played the often scared Dash Mihok. Besides the four of them, the acting wasn’t its shining quality – which undercut much of the film.
This writer tries not to be harsh with his critiques of movies and shows, but it has to be said. Colin Salmon and Julie Benz did not deliver their best performances – which wasn’t good considering their characters were crucial to the movie.
Another reason this failed was because people don’t know The Punisher – not really. They like the idea of him, but don’t really get what he does. Ray Stevenson portrayed Frank Castle the way he is in the Punisher Max series. He’s violent, calculated, and does things other refuse to. Thomas Jane was a watered-down version – good, but not completely accurate. It’s a shame that this movie is one of the worst. It could have been much, much better.
