Explosive things await Archie, Jughead, Betty and Veronica in the first Riverdale season 5 trailer. You can watch it here.

Riverdale season 5 is on the horizon and fans couldn’t be more excited to revisit the wonderfully over-the-top world of the beloved Archie Comics TV series. Yes, it’s been a long wait for the show’s return but that wait is almost over.

The fourth season was perhaps the most turbulent of them all for the residents of the unnerving town as they found themselves being stalked by a mysterious stranger who kept sending videotapes of their houses to their houses.

Meanwhile, Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) attempted to start a new life by helping the kids at his local gym, Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) tried to do the same by starting a new school, Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) also attempted to do that by yet again distancing herself from her father Hiram (Mark Consuelos) and Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) started an FBI training program with her brother Charles.

Needless to say everything went awry (because it’s Riverdale) and that has left the show in a very interesting place – an interesting place that season 5 will continue to take us. And with that, behold the new season 5 trailer.

Season 5 will be a major year for the group. The first few episodes will be tasked with wrapping up the previous season’s storyline, allowing the gang to figure if Principal Honey really is dead and, if so, who is the one who killed him.

More from TV

When that storyline wraps up, however, the show will embark on a major time-jump seven years into the future, allowing us viewers to meet more mature versions of the eccentric characters we know and love.

If the above trailer is anything to go by, season 5 will be one heck of a year for the Riverdale crew!
