6. Katie Cassidy in Black Christmas

We promised Christmas movies for all types of movie fans, so allow us to take a slight diversion from the festivities to keep the horror fans satisfied. No Black Christmas is not for the faint of heart and if you’re not a horror fan, we suggest you click on past this one.

If you are a horror fan, however, you might find yourself intrigued by this 2006 slasher that was originally stylized as Black Xmas. Starring the leading lady of Arrow, Katie Cassidy, it’s a loose remake of the 1974 film and centers on sorority sisters who are stalked before being killed by a mysterious serial killer.

The film was a success as it ultimately grossed $21 million against a $9 million budget and though critics weren’t particularly kind to the story, they praised the performances – including that of Cassidy.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise because anyone who has watched Arrow will know how incredible a performer she is, as she stole the show on many occasions with her performances as Laurel Lance/Black Canary and her Earth-2 doppelganger Black Siren.

It’s ironic that this was one of the movies that gave Cassidy a reputation as a modern day “scream queen” because as us Arrowverse fans know, nobody screams like the Black Canary! And we hope to see her do it again very soon in Green Arrow and the Canaries!
