In a tumultuous year where almost nothing was consistent, Marvel and DC Comics, and other companies, continued to release comics in a weekly fashion and so many were great.

Since the beginning of the year, thousands of comics have been released from so many companies. From new creator-owned to established IP, hundreds of new stories have begun and ended this year and I’m here to celebrate some of the best from Marvel and DC Comics, also colloquially known as “The Big Two.”

This list’s focus on Marvel and DC Comics shouldn’t be taken as thinking that there were no good comics released aside from these two companies though. Far from it. So many great comics from companies across the board have released some great books this year. Some of the many examples are Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV & Werther Dell’Edera, Gideon Falls by Andrea Sorrentino & Jeff Lemire, Pulp and Reckless by Ed Brubaker & Sean Phillips, Undiscovered Country by Scott Snyder, Charles Soule, & Giuseppe Cammuncoli, Black Magick by Greg Rucka & Nicola Scott and so, so many others.

Now, onto the very best comics from Marvel and DC in 2020, in no particular order.
