Doctor Aphra should headline her own Star Wars show on Disney Plus.

Disney has been making a lot of noise this month. During Disney Investor Day, the mysterious Secret Invasion Marvel TV show was announced for Disney Plus, Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher was confirmed to be the main villain of Thor: Love and Thunder and we saw our first look at Loki’s trailer.

But that was just on the Marvel Studios side of things. Star Wars had a big month as well. Ahsoka, Lando, and Rogue Squadron were all among the projects announced as future Disney Plus shows. This is a clear indication that Disney more than sees the potential in the Star Wars franchise than ever before but truthfully, they’ve barely scratched the surface on what they can do. Wait until they introduce Doctor Aphra and her droids.

"“Archeology is grave robbing with fancy paperwork. And I’ve got debts to pay.”- Doctor Aphra"

Who is Doctor Aphra and how does she feature in Star Wars?

Doctor Aphra was one of the first Star Wars characters this writer discovered outside of the movies and she immediately became his favorite. She’s intelligent, smart-mouthed, and can get out of any situation. When this writer first met her, Darth Vader needed her help. Let that sink in. Vader sought out her assistance and he beat, killed, and tortured his way around the galaxy to get her.

Aphra never truly fails either. Even when she “loses” she’s found a way to get what she wants – a quality that ultimately kept Vader from killing her.

As her story progressed, we found out why Aphra is the way she is. A lot of it had to do with her upbringing. A father who abandoned her and her mother for what he deemed the greater good and a mother that died when Aphra was young. After all of that, Aphra just stopped caring and she began acting out. Which leads to her having a life of crime and stealing the doctor title. Her origin story would be the perfect story for a Disney Plus series.
