5. Felicity Jones

The Theory of Everything star Felicity Jones is something of an unfortunate casualty of the Webb saga. Before the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , Jones was pegged as “The Goblin’s girlfriend,” which is not explicitly so, but Dane DeHaan’s Harry Osborn did take an interest in Jones’ character – who eventually was revealed as Felicia Hardy, an executive assistant of the Osborns and their company.

Felicia is the civilian identity of supervillain-turned-anti-heroine Black Cat. Felicia and Spidey have a history on and off duty as crime-fighters in the comics. Before Spider-Man eventually went on to marry the love of his life – Mary Jane Watson (Pre-One More Day) – they had a relationship after Black Cat managed to prove herself by thwarting a plot by The Owl and The Kingpin revolving around holding New York to ransom with a highly dangerous weapon.

Spider-Man and Black Cat’s relationship was largely on-and-off, mainly due to the latter’s spontaneous nature as an adventurer and her less than desirable habit of descending into criminal acts.

Jones’ Felicia Hardy is a character that never got to live up to her potential because the film spent too much time focused on more world-building and multiple villains than exploring into her character, so this more than anything would be enough to warrant her return.
