What does Riverdale season 5 have in store for Archie Andrews?

Riverdale season 5 is on the horizon and fans are understandably excited. The CW TV show has been off screens since May when its fourth season had to end prematurely because of the production shutdown. After a long wait, the show’s return is almost upon us.

Riverdale‘s core group of characters faced a troubling year last season as change affected them all in huge ways – along with a murder mystery, an apparent stalker (who is videotaping everyone in town) and reckless behavior from some unwanted town residents. However, it is Archie Andrews who may have had the toughest year of them all.

With that in mind, let’s look ahead at what’s to come for Archie in Riverdale‘s upcoming fifth season. Before we do, however, let’s remind ourselves of what he was up to in season 4.

Where we left off with Archie in season 4

Not only was Riverdale‘s protagonist getting a little overwhelmed with the uncertainty surrounding his future, Archie lost his father Fred Andrews in what was undoubtedly the show’s most heartbreaking episode (which paid tribute to the late, great Luke Perry).

As the season went on, Archie was reminded that his place wasn’t in a fancy college or a big city, but in Riverdale itself. But as he attempted to build his future in the place he’d always lived, he joined forces with friends and allies Jughead Jones, Betty Cooper, Cheryl Blossom, Toni Topaz, Kevin Keller, Fangs Fogarty and his beloved girlfriend Veronica Lodge to take down Principal Honey and, more importantly, the mysterious videotape stalker.
