Deadpool 3 is the perfect place to introduce Elsa Bloodstone in the MCU
By Mark Lynch
Introducing Elsa Bloodstone to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Deadpool 3 is a great idea.
Both Deadpool movies were record-breaking successes and their R ratings gave the writers the freedom to give the audience the Deadpool movies we deserved. They also helped introduce Marvel characters to the movies in their proper light.
Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Cable and Domino became instant stars – something that may not have happened in a PG-13 rated film. There was also the reintroduction of Colossus and Juggernaut – two characters who didn’t have great outings in their debuts.
Deadpool proved that characters people may not be quite as familiar with can gain notoriety with the right introduction. This is why esteemed monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone should be introduced in Deadpool 3.
Who is Elsa Bloodstone?
Elsa Bloodstone is known as a monster hunter – one who’s feared by every monster who’s heard stories about her. But it isn’t only monsters that should fear her. She’s a fighter that’s taken on Deadpool and Elektra on and won. She’s proficient in hand-to-hand combat and even better with a gun. Elsa’s been on a few teams along the way, but never gained any real momentum. Nonetheless, Marvel Comics seems to have a plan for her going forward.
Elsa was added to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. A popular game that will certainly get people interested in her, especially since she’s a good character to use. She’s also been a crucial part of AXIS, Monsters Unleashed, and Jessica Jones.
But hoe does this all relate to the Merc With a Mouth? She’s currently become a regular in Kelly Thompson’s Deadpool series.
It’s not shocking that Wade and Elsa started off at each other’s throats. Besides Wade being King of the Monsters and her being a monster hunter, they’re very much alike. They love to curse, they’re underrated fighters and they both take their craft seriously. Wade may joke around but over the past decade, he has taken conveyed a lot more earnestness than he once did – and he does it now more than ever.
During Wade’s current run as king, the two have gained something from each other. Elsa is learning that she may have been wrong and that not every monster deserves to die – a lesson she may not have learned if Wade wasn’t king. Wade, on the other hand, is discovering that he’ll have to make some hard decisions as a ruler. The two have also developed a friendship and a romantic relationship along the way. Who knows where this will continue going forward. Sure, nothing Deadpool does ends with happiness, but who knows this time?
How Elsa Bloodstone could play into Deadpool 3
As of now, we have no idea what’s going on with Deadpool 3. Will Vanessa still be alive after Wade messed with the timeline or is her death destined to happen? Who knows, maybe the series will be rebooted. Either way, Deadpool 3 is happening and Marvel Studios’ presence suggests that this one could take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so all of this should help make way for a new character.
This doesn’t mean Elsa and Wade need to be romantically involved immediately. It would be nice to see things develop the way they have in the comics – with Deadpool and Elsa both flirting while not acknowledging their attraction for one another.
The truth is that Elsa Bloodstone would be a great addition to the MCU. The best way to have her rollout is to put her in a position where people will see her for who she is. That wouldn’t work so well if she showed up in any future Avengers projects. Nothing about her personality says that she can work with them. It might work with Blade if the film is rated R and possibly even Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness if it is indeed used to welcome outside Marvel projects like Deadpool into the MCU. However, if people want to see Elsa Bloodstone in all her glory, the best place for her to begin would be with Deadpool.
