1. Titania

By far one of She-Hulk’s most popular foes, Titania is also one of her greatest – and deadliest – enemies to date. She was created by writer and then Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter and artist Mike Zeck.

Titania has been a prominent supervillain and rival of Shulkie since her debut, but in recent years she has become more of an anti-heroine in Marvel Comics. She has appeared in a couple of video games and in the animated series Hulk and the Agents of SMASH and Avengers Assemble voiced by Clare Grant.

Titania first appeared in Secret Wars No.3 as part of the 12–issue limited series crossover event published by Marvel between May 1984 and April 1985. Mary MacPherran was a dreamer who aspired for the marvelous and unthinkable but she had a troubled youth, with her only friend being the relatively outcast Marsha Rosenberg and, as expanded upon in She-Hulk Vol.1 No.10, both of them were bullied for their appearance.

The pair eventually ended up encountering Doctor Doom – who was looking for new recruits during the original Secret Wars. Both of them accepted his offer in joining his army of supervillains against Marvel’s superheroes in return for being granted super powers.

Due to a process which involved genetic manipulation, MacPherran transformed into a taller, muscular version of herself and dubbed herself Titania. Her friend, Rosenberg, mutated into a fiery plasma form and became Volcana.

Titania was eventually defeated by She-Hulk and, after that, she confronted her old school tormentor Vanessa Ashford. The rivalry between Titania and She-Hulk is well-documented, with the pair engaging in many battles over the years and the villain joining antagonists like the Frightful Four and the Absorbing Man.

In the She-Hulk series for Disney+, Titania has the potential to not only be a threat to Maslany’s She-Hulk but Marvel could actually adapt MacPherran’s origins really well here. Perhaps she became a social media influencer later in life in order to become as popular as she always wanted to be and prove to her childhood bullies that she could make it. Perhaps this doesn’t stop with popularity though and leads to her becoming the genetically-mutated Titania.
