WandaVision has arrived on Disney Plus and the premiere’s ending left fans shocked and confused. But just who is the beekeeper? Spoilers ahead.

WandaVision has finally made its presence felt on Disney Plus. The much-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe series has had the world buzzing for its release for some time. Though initially expected to be released in December 2020, it was delayed to January. But it was clearly worth the wait.

The MCU miniseries saw Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) reunite in suburban bliss. A walking, talking sitcom, the experimental series is unlike anything the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever produced before.

However, the ending sequence left us all a little perplexed and confused as a beekeeper crawled out of the sewer outside of Wanda and Vision’s house. The grim figure looked at the married couple in a rather intimidating moment before Wanda had enough and decided to rewind time back a few moments, saving them from the fear (at least temporarily).

Who is the beekeeper in WandaVision?

The exact identity of the beekeeper has yet to be revealed, but the insignia on the back of his suit reads Sentient World Observation and Response Department. Naturally, Marvel fans will recognize that insignia and name as it belongs to the Marvel organization S.W.O.R.D.

Introduced in the comics in 2004, S.W.O.R.D. is essentially the space version of S.H.I.E.L.D. and their introduction into the MCU has been expected for a long time – being teased as recently as the latest MCU film Spider-Man: Far From Home.

With that in mind, we have to wonder: Are the-powers-that-be at SWORD the ones who are attempting to reach Wanda? If so, why are they monitoring her and will they be able to stop whatever is going on? Clearly she has enough power to reverse time and stop them from infiltrating her sitcom life but will they find a way to reach her? And can we expect more beekeepers?
