How does WandaVision fit into the MCU?
MCU series WandaVision has finally arrived on Disney Plus but just where does it take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline?
WandaVision has at long last arrived on screens and Marvel fans are ecstatic at the thought of catching up with Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) in the Disney Plus show.
While everyone is excited to see what looks to be Marvel’s most original concept yet, many are a little confused by the apparent anachronisms which makes it all the harder to place where it takes place in the MCU timeline.
Does WandaVision take place after Avengers: Endgame?
WandaVision does indeed take place after Avengers: Endgame. While that hasn’t been outright confirmed, it’s common knowledge because there’s nowhere in the main timeline of the first three phases that it fits into.
Of course, that creates some problems because certain things are happening that shouldn’t be happening but that’s all intentional because the show wants it to happen.
Where does WandaVision take place?
WandaVision is set in the fictional town of Westview. However, it’s not 1950s Westview… it just looks that way.
The show is portrayed like a classic 1950s/1960s sitcom but that doesn’t mean it’s set in the ’50s or the ’60s. No, it simply uses techniques employed by classic sitcoms like I Love Lucy and Bewitched to give it that vintage presentation.
How is Vision alive in WandaVision?
It’s not yet known how Vision is alive as he was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. That doesn’t mean it takes place before the film, however, simply that something is going on with Wanda.
While the android coming back to life or being rebuilt isn’t entirely beyond the realm of possibility in the MCU, the more likely reason is that he (and the world around them) is part of a reality created by the Scarlet Witch as a response to her grief.
WandaVision‘s first two episodes are now streaming on Disney+. A new episode will be added every Friday.
