Marvel: 10 things we must see from the MCU’s Wolverine
By Mark Lynch
7. Does more than swing his claws
One of the most frustrating things that some people say about Wolverine is that he doesn’t know how to fight. Some of his critics have suggested that all he does is swing his claws around. This, however, is far from the truth. You don’t become one of the most dangerous fighters in the world by flailing your arms around and hoping for the best. When he’s in a rage, his instincts are more animalistic, yes, but that doesn’t take away from his fighting prowess or his intelligence.
First, before Logan’s bones were coated with Adamantium, he was a soldier honing his skills with weapons and hand-to-hand combat. He then learned martial arts where his entire body became a weapon. As time went on, he continued to get better. His skills with a sword improved, he learned more ways to hurt people, and even found other skills like how to make his soul harder.
Beyond his expertise as a fighter, we can’t overlook his intelligence as well. Logan’s put together a lot of plans to get the job done. He once tricked his son by using Deadpool to try and kill him. A ruse that fooled Deadpool as well. Furthermore, when he was fighting Steve Rogers, he hit Captain America in the leg so hard it caused a massive Hematoma, clotting the blood in Rogers’ body and taking him out of the fight.
Logan has to be this kind of nasty and smart in the MCU. One or the other just won’t suffice.
