1. The Auteur is back to basics

All season long in season 4, the mysterious videotape stalker harassed and disturbed the residents of Riverdale, sending hours upon hours of videotape recorded outside of their houses to their front doors. And after a season premiere in which the villain tried their hand at a much bigger stage (though nobody outside of the core group of characters actually noticed), it seems that the Auteur is once again back to basics in the sophomore outing of season 5.

As the above promotional photo suggests, the Auteur has sent another video to the Cooper/Jones household and, by the looks on the faces of Jughead, Betty, Alice, FP and Jellybean, it should absolutely be taken seriously.

Nobody knows what to expect from the Auteur – or even who they are – but after making things specific with Betty and Jughead in the premiere, has the videotape stalker set their sights on the Joneses and the Coopers?

The viewers will find out more come “Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Preppy Murders”, but in the meantime, it’s clear that the Auteur is back to basics… and that’s definitely not a good thing for the Riverdale residents.
