“Why Hexagonal Shape?”

It seems Darcy and Jimmy are also big fans of WandaVision (the show within the show, that is). And like us, they’re also asking pertinent questions, such as why is the energy barrier around Westview the shape of a hexagon? Moreover, the hexagon symbol has appeared quite a lot throughout the previous episodes, so it’s very obvious that it’s not done for style. It is a very big and very significant clue.

No doubt you’ve noticed the prefix “hex” in hexagon. Hex, of course, refers to magic and witchcraft, like the Scarlet Witch. The hexagon is also what’s used to make the hexagram, a very common symbol found in every major religion and in the occult, often known as the “Star of David,” “Seal of Solomon,” and regarded as a sign of protection. The hexagon is also considered a symbol of order, and also has associations with the Greek god of time, Cronus, whom the Romans called Saturn. All of which is rather fitting given the nature of Wanda’s powers, how she’s bringing a kind of “order” to Westview, and “protecting” it from the outside world.

It also happens to be the symbol of Advanced Idea Mechanics, a.k.a. A.I.M. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, A.I.M. was first introduced in Iron Man 3 as a rival to Stark Industries, who were also behind “the Mandarin” hoax. In the comics, however, the company was actually created by Baron Wolfgang von Strucker–the same guy who helped give Wanda and Pietro their powers in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) as a front group for Hydra. Given we’ve also seen some Hydra references, perhaps WandaVision is hinting as A.I.M.’s true origins and that they’re the ones, besides Wanda, who set all of this in motion.
