4. Callback to ‘The Blip’
WandaVision has given us many connections to the wider MCU, such as mentioning events from Age of Ultron where Pietro Maximoff was killed and alluding to Captain Marvel. Now the series has showcased some more aftermath of The Blip from Avengers: Endgame.
While we got glimpses of people returning in Spider-Man: Far From Home after Hulk snapped everyone back into existence after Thanos erased half of all life in Avengers: Infinity War, that scene was played for comedic effect. This was one, however, was not.
Teyonah Parris confirmed earlier that the series occurs straight after Avengers: Endgame, and the opening scene confirms this by showcasing how dark and chaotic it could be for people suddenly returning from The Blip and appearing where they were during the first snap. And the perfect location was used during this scene, as a hospital is usually chaotic and added to the fear felt by the people returning after five years.
Seeing Monica run confused and dazed through the corridor as people materialise and freak out is terrifying, which is made even worse when Monica discovers that her mother died three years ago.
Truly, this scene showcases while Thanos’ snap was chaotic for the universe, the Hulk’s snap to bring everyone back was just as chaotic for everyone.
