It has been revealed that the Snyder Cut of Justice League will officially be rated R.

The Snyder Cut of a certain DCEU movie has kept fans excited for some time now and, now, those fans have received more major details in regards to Zack Snyder’s Justice League in the form of the film’s official rating.

It has been confirmed that the Snyder Cut is indeed rated R, per the official Film Ratings website. The film has been rated R for “for violence and some language.”

Snyder teased back in December 2020 that he believed the film would be rated R, citing his creation as “epic” during his conversation with Entertainment Weekly.

"“Here’s one piece of information nobody knows: The movie is insane and so epic and is probably rated R — that’s one thing I think will happen, that it will be an R-rated version, for sure… We haven’t heard from the MPAA, but that’s my gut.”"

Why is Zack Snyder’s Justice League rated R?

While it is unclear what scenes have pushed the film to an R rating, Snyder’s cut of Justice League will be 4-hours long, making it nearly double the length of the 2017 film.

The R rating could come from the extended Knightmare sequences that were teased in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and confirmed to be making a return through an image of Batman Snyder released on his Vero account.

Snyder also recently released a tease of Jared Leto’s Joker, who will be cameoing in the project. These additional scenes could be the added pieces that pushed Snyder’s Cut of the film towards an R rating.

Justice League: The Snyder Cut will feature the return of Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa and Ray Fisher as their respective characters, with the four hour movie coming to HBO Max on March 18.
