The new trailer for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier finally gives Sharon Carter the spotlight she deserves, showcasing what a badass she can be.

Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes may be the stars of the upcoming Disney Plus series, but Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter may have just stole the show during the new trailer released for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier during the Super Bowl.

While the trailer focuses heavily on the dynamic between Wilson and Barnes, and also features glimpses of the villains they will face, Carter appears about halfway through the trailer to take some of the spotlight away from the boys.

Sharon Carter could steal the show in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

The niece of the legendary Agent Peggy Carter appears in a brief exchange with Falcon and the Winter Soldier, before transitioning to a scene where she is showcased taking on three men with relative ease in hand-to-hand combat in a shipping yard. She uses a pipe to take down two of the men fast, before kicking the third man in the face.

This one scene once again showcases how skilled in combat Sharon is, much like her Aunt Peggy. Sharon appeared in both Marvel Cinematic Universe films Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War as an ally to Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. She also appeared as a potential love interest for Rogers during the events of Civil War though the MCU decided not to take that direction as Rogers was unable to move on from his first love Peggy.

It is unclear how VanCamp’s character will factor into the plot, but it is likely that she will once again be an ally to both Wilson and Barnes, while also providing the series with another connection to the original Captain America. This also gives the writers the chance to develop her character throughout the series – something she didn’t get enough of in the MCU movies.

It will be interesting to see Sharon’s reaction to the decision Captain America made at the end of Avengers: Endgame to go back in time and live a life with Peggy Carter, considering the chemistry Sharon had developed with Rogers.

No matter what her role may be in the series, fans will be ecstatic to see Sharon Carter when the Disney+ series premieres on March 19, 2021. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will also star Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Daniel Brühl as Helmut Zemo and Wyatt Russell as John F. Walker (US Agent).
