3. A starring role for Toni

Toni Topaz is, without question, one of the most intriguing characters on Riverdale. It says a lot that we’re able to make a statement like that when she’s also one of the most overlooked and underappreciated but that’s just an example of how charismatic a performer Vanessa Morgan is.

The truth is that Toni has always been circling great storylines without ever being allowed to get fully involved in them. Her relationship with Cheryl Blossom is golden, but more often than not, she is being pulled into Cheryl’s storylines than featuring in her own. Season 5 has already started to show beginnings of the writers turning that around and that’s going to continue in the coming episodes.

Yes, Toni will serve as a guide for Archie and help him navigate the new Riverdale he finds himself in. But she’ll also be a force-to-be-reckoned with in her own right, catching us up on the events that happened through her eyes. She’ll also rock an incredible new look and, by the looks of the trailer, unveil some phenomenal stage skills.

The writers promised Vanessa Morgan some stronger material moving forward and this looks like strong start for the incomparable Toni Topaz’s new era.

Let’s just hope that it’s Toni’s year because, honestly, she deserves it.
