Having finished the remaining chapter of the fourth season’s storyline, the previous episode was the originally-planned season 4 finale. The emotional episode wrapped up the season’s stories and brought the overarching arcs to an end.

The upcoming episode will now take Riverdale into the future. This is the episode that was supposed to serve as the season 5 premiere. Set seven years in the future, it will see Archie Andrews return to town and find things very different than the way he left them before joining the army.
Riverdale will be in need of saving. As a result, Archie will gather the gang back together. Betty Cooper, Jughead Jones and Veronica Lodge will all return from their respective lives to save the town they grew up in one more time but Archie will also find a lot of help from Toni Topaz.
