The Mandalorian’s Gina Carano has been fired from the show after her controversial social media posts.

Gina Carano has been fired from The Mandalorian. The actress, who portrayed Cara Dune on the Disney Plus show, made some controversial social media posts recently. As a result, it has been revealed that she will not be returning for The Mandalorian season 3.

As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, Lucasfilm released a statement later in the day, confirming that she is not currently employed by the company and that she will not be back in the show’s third season. The statement also referred to her posts as “abhorrent” and “unacceptable”.

"“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”"

It was subsequently revealed that the actor had been dropped by her talent agency UTA.

Carano’s controversial social media posts resulted in a surge of backlash as fans took to social media, trending #FireGinaCarano. She deleted the post soon after sharing it, but it still made its way across the internet.

Will Cara Dune be recast in The Mandalorian season 3?

It’s unknown if Cara Dune will be recast in The Mandalorian season 3. Of course, the confirmation that Gina Carano will not be returning casts doubt in regards to the character’s future but it’s uncertain how the show will proceed with her arc at this time.

More from Disney Plus

Dune was something of a significant part of the series, so it goes without saying that it would be tricky moving forward without her. However, given that production on the third season is set to begin in the coming months, it might be trickier attempting to recast the role at this stage.

Of course, nothing is certain and it’s unlikely that Lucasfilm or Disney Plus would make any kind of announcements in regards to the fate of the Star Wars character just yet.

Nonetheless, there is some uncertainty in relation to what will happen with Cara Dune in The Mandalorian season 3.
