WandaVision: 5 theories about Quicksilver’s shock return
By Liam Clark
With Pietro’s cameo at the end of WandaVision episode 5 and his full return in episode 6, fans are still speculating about how the character’s “return” is even possible?
Since the mention of Pietro’s name in WandaVision’s third episode, fans have been eager to see whether the Disney Plus series would bring back Wanda’s deceased brother in some form or another. At the end of the fifth episode, those fans got their wish as Pietro entered the series in a shock cliffhanger.
However, this Pietro looked entirely different to the speedster brother featured in Avengers: Age of Ultron. This version of Pietro is portrayed by the actor who played Quicksilver in the X-Men franchise, Evan Peters.
This moment was a huge jaw-dropper for fans as this move seemingly connected the Marvel Cinematic Universe to 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise because Evan Peters was playing the character once more.
However, Peters’ character is in a strange spot. While this version of Pietro looks exactly like the character from the X-Men films, he has the memories of Wanda’s brother (who was portrayed by Aaron Taylor Johnson in the MCU). Additionally, the character also has memories that the MCU’s version of Pietro should not have, such as Vision’s death at the hands of Thanos during the final act of Avengers Infinity War.
This leads to the question: Who is Pietro Maximoff? Is he who he says he is, or is there something more sinister at play with the Wanda’s brother seemingly returning to the dead and suddenly appearing in Westview?
