One of the best things about comic book casting now is the way the studios are thinking outside of the box. It’s no longer about picking the available A-List actor because of their status. Now, we’re seeing real talent shine on the big and small screens.
Zawe Ashton will undoubtedly join that list of names as the Marvel Cinematic Universe has cast her in Captain Marvel 2. This is pretty ironic considering that she previously cosplayed as Captain Marvel herself. Now her casting feels like it’s almost like she predicted this would happen or willed it into existence with that cosplay.

Deadline reported that Zawe Ashton will be playing the villain in Captain Marvel 2. That makes her one of the most important parts of the movie. After all, Carol Danvers will have to face someone that she can’t defeat easily. After Avengers: Endgame, it was clear that even Thanos was little match for her without the Infinity Stones, so whoever Ahston plays here will have to be someone on that level.
They don’t necessarily have to match Carol Danvers in strength. While it helps, power isn’t always a must when you’re fighting someone because there are other ways to win.
