3 Marvel villains Zawe Ashton could play in Captain Marvel 2

Mystique

Mystique is a big part of Carol Danvers’ life in the comics. She’s the reason Rogue was around to steal her powers in the first place. Throughout their history, Mystique would torment Carol and she didn’t need to have the strength to lift a car to compete with her. Mystique’s shapeshifting powers are more than enough to make her a formidable threat. She uses them to play mind games with the very best that Marvel has to offer. Carol can destroy buildings with a punch, but she’s vulnerable to psychological attacks just like anyone else.

We’re all looking for any sign that brings the mutants to the MCU. Zawe Ashton could be that sign. If she were to portray Mystique, the best thing about it is that she could play a random character that helps or hinders Carol throughout the movie until the post-credit scene reveals she was Mystique all along. Not only would this be an amazing twist, it would give us our first look at mutants in the MCU. It’s a win-win.
