Superman and Lois made an impression on viewers and its ratings clearly reflected that.

Arrowverse and superhero fans watched in excitement as a new era began for the world’s most famous hero on Tuesday night. Superman and Lois brought the Man of Steel home to the small screen permanently, with Supergirl‘s Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth “Bitsie” Tulloch taking up their roles full-time in the new spin-off.

But Superman and Lois quickly proved that it was much much more than an spin-off. And in a show that has taken the world by storm, the Man of Steel and the intrepid reporter came to life in way that we’ve never seen them do so before.

Naturally, a show like this should draw a lot of eyeballs and fans are curious to hear how The CW show has performed in the ratings. Let’s find out.

What were Superman and Lois’ premiere ratings like?

The special two-hour premiere of Superman and Lois drew 1.71 million viewers for The CW. TVLine revealed the news earlier today, along with the confirmation that it also drew a 0.4 rating in the target demo.

More from Arrowverse

This makes the show the second-highest premiere for the network of the season, behind Walker (which drew 2.4 million viewers). However, it also makes the first hour of it the highest-drawing program in the 8pm timeslot since The Flash season 5’s twelfth episode and the most-watched Arrowverse episode since Batwoman‘s series premiere – which narrowly beat it with 1.8 million viewers.

While network TV ratings are down in general and the Arrowverse has aged as a franchise – hence why no show will likely get the numbers that ArrowThe Flash or Supergirl drew in their earlier years on the network – Superman and Lois‘ debut proves that audiences were intrigued to see that the Man of Steel and Lois Lane’s new show was all about. And, as the reviews indicate, they certainly weren’t disappointed.
