30 great Deadpool moments for his 30 year anniversary
By Mark Lynch
8. Deadpool saves a life
Comic book: Deadpool No. 20
Writer: Gerry Duggan
Not all of Wade Wilson’s accomplishments involve violence. This is one of them.
A woman was on the verge of suicide until Wade stepped in. At first, he joked with her. That levity turned into a journey around the city. He took her to see Hamilton in the hopes that would cheer her up. Then, he took her on a couple of jobs to beat some people up to let her rage loose. Later, he drove her to a hospital and told her that he texted the staff and they were expecting her. After a quick conversation, the two of them walked into the hospital. Wade left her in the proper hands of the people who can truly help her.
Deadpool is known for beating people up or killing them. This time he saved a life. This issue showed Wade’s heart in a way we don’t see often. We’ve seen him love and help people he’s close to, yes, but on this occasion, he saved a complete stranger.
The issue ends with Wade saying something profound.
"“You gotta remember: No matter how bad things get… that life is fluid. There’s always the chance that something great is waiting around the next corner. You just have to find a way to keep rounding the corners.”"
