7. Dead Presidents

Comic book: Deadpool: Dead Presidents

Writers: Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn

This was the silliest group of villains Deadpool has ever faced. Forget Doctor Bong, Madcap, or Hit-Monkey, Wade was fighting the resurrected dead presidents of the United States. They weren’t just undead, they were also hellbent on destroying the world and remaking it. Since this isn’t a job that the Avengers could be seen doing, Wade was hired by S.H.I.E.L.D. to get the job done.

This series was full of hijinks, sorcery, and silliness. Wade does succeed, but not before one of his new friends Emily Preston was killed. Thankfully she was saved. The unlucky part was her soul was thrown into Wade’s mind.

6. Deadpool’s Family

Comic book: Deadpool (2012-2017)

Writers: Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn

After spending weeks in Wade’s head, Emily Preston came to understand Wade. She saw the parts of him that people don’t get to see, the horrible things done to him in the past and things that continued to happen. She also saw the good man he was trying to be.

After she left his mind, Preston and her family remained in Wade’s life. She adopted his daughter Ellie. The ghost of Ben Franklin, the necromancer Michael Hawthorne and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Scott Adsit all became members of Wade’s family as well.

Wade never thought he’d have so many loved ones in his life. It’s a shame it didn’t last.
