18. Deadpool’s first big heroic moment

While Wade had done the right thing a couple of times up to this point, this one was a big turning point. He was sent on a mission to destroy an unmanned scientific building. It was supposed to be a quick in and out. However, he came to find out the building was manned and the destruction of the site could send radiation all over the entire southern hemisphere and give people cancer.

Wade did the right thing and decided against it: An action that resulted in his healing factor being almost diminished.

We found out this was a test. Deadpool was being prepped for an event that he was destined to be a part of. If he didn’t do the heroic thing, Wade wouldn’t have been the one the universe needed.

The mission above was leading to this moment. Deadpool was supposed to defeat an alien but he lost. After his defeat, Wade cried because he couldn’t be the hero everyone wanted him to be. After almost quitting, he found out that the person who was the hardest on him actually said Wade has the heart of a hero. Wade dusted himself off and saved the universe from an alien that would give everyone in the universe serenity and contentment but leave them mindless.

This is a part of Wade’s life that people don’t remember – the moment where Deadpool saved the entire universe and didn’t stick around for praise.
