Marvel movie: Guardians of the Galaxy
Before the Guardians of the Galaxy became a team, they were five strangers. The galaxy’s lucky happenstance brought them together. If not, Thanos would have gotten the Power Stone much easier. Or, Ronan defeats Thanos and the Kree Empire rules the Universe. Neither of these fates benefits the universe (maybe these will be episodes of Marvel’s What if…? series).
At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, the five strangers come together to become a weapon. First, Star-Lord grabs the Power Stone knowing that its immense power could destroy him. Seeing him start to fade, each of the remaining Guardians formed a chain to help distribute the stone’s power. Ronan couldn’t believe what he’s seeing and says it’s impossible. That’s when Star-Lord drops the line. “You said it yourself, b****. We’re the Guardians of the Galaxy.”
This wasn’t just a line, this was the exact beginning of their team. They banded together and were willing to give up their lives for each other. Chris Pratt doesn’t get enough credit for this moment let alone his portrayal of Star-Lord. He delivers the line flawlessly. It had the perfect balance of sarcasm and anger needed to get the point across. A great representation of the character and the movie as a whole.
