Bruce Banner Hulked out on the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier and destroyed a good portion of the ship. He also fought a couple of his teammates before eventually jumping off the ship. The entire team thought that this would be the last they’d see of him. Everyone except Tony Stark, that is.
Iron Man asked to let him know when Banner showed up. When he did, he told Banner to suit up. Bruce walked towards the flying leviathan that Iron Man was bringing to him. Captain America suggests to Banner that it might be time for him to get angry. Banner nonchalantly looks at Cap says, “That’s my secret, Cap. I’m always angry” and punches the leviathan so hard it cracks its entire shell. This is the moment that officially brought the Avengers.
Bruce Banner can only turn into the Hulk when he’s angry. The fact that Banner keeps his other side in check tells a lot about Bruce’s calm. He’s on the edge at all times and almost never loses his cool.
Seeing Bruce make that transformation from normal guy to unstoppable rage monster was a sight to behold. It wasn’t a change caused by an outside stimulus. It was Bruce allowing it to happen. An unforgettable scene preceded by a memorable phrase. One that people still use.
