Thanos and his army thought they had the superior numbers until the portals opened. Those portals brought in warriors from all over the universe. Beings who were prepared to fight for the lives of every being in existence. Among those was Wanda Maximoff.
Wanda had a personal grudge with Thanos. His quest for the Infinity Stones forced her to kill Vision so Thanos wouldn’t get the Mind Stone in Vision’s. He brings Vision back to life and kills him in front of her. If that wasn’t enough, Wanda was among the people who disappeared during the blip. When Wanda got the chance for revenge she took it.
With her eyes glowing red, Wanda says, “You took everything from me.” Thanos says he doesn’t know who she was. Wanda responded, “You will” and summoned the power to take on the Mad Titan. Wanda accomplished something not even the God of Thunder could do. She showed Thanos what it feels like to have fear and feel helpless.
Wanda’s opening line to Thanos was a flawless intro to this scene. She delivered Wanda’s reason for revenge very much like she would in the comic books. Elizabeth Olson showed everyone why she was the right person to portray the ultra-powerful Scarlet Witch.
