“I can do this all day” – Steve Rogers

12. All day

Marvel movies: Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame

One of the first times we see Steve Rogers is in the trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger. He’s a small and skinny kid but has no fear. When he’s being attacked by someone bigger than him, he doesn’t cower. He looks the bully in the face and says, “I can do this all day.” A phrase like this would’ve been immortalized if it was only used once. It’s also too good to have only a singular use.

Now, Captain America, Steve Rogers uses it again (Captain America: Civil War). This time against his friend. Iron Man’s suit analyzed Captain America’s fight patterns and countered them. Iron Man gave Cap a receipt for the beatdown he just took. But Cap didn’t stay down. He picked himself up like he always does. Despite barely being able to stand, Cap was ready for the next round. Again, he says, “I can do this all day.”

We got the line one more time. In Avengers: Endgame, future Captain America was fighting his past self. This time, the roles were reversed. The Captain America who was winning says, “I can do this all day.” Future Cap, annoyed, says, “Yeah, I know. I know.” This is a nice finale to the last time we’ll hear Cap say this. A joke to let the viewers know that they’re aware that he uses that line a lot.
