Hydra is one of the first big bads to threaten Earth (sure, there were beings from one of the Nine Realms, but allow this writer to hyperbolize a bit). Hydra’s plan for world domination started before World War 2 and continued on until 2014.
From the beginning until the end of their reign, they had a phrase. Two words that let others know that you’re in the group. Those two words were, “Hail Hydra.” Red Skull, Arnim Zola, and a host of other characters have said this phrase and it’s one of the silliest things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Seriously, this is just goofy. In Captain America: The First Avenger, they threw their fist in the air and said it. It looked ridiculous. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, they tried to make it serious. By then it was too late.
There are hundreds if not thousands of memes with the “Hail Hydra” phrase on it. One person was so creative that they drew octopus tentacles under a fire hydrant and captioned it, “Hail Hydrant.” Seriously, give it a Google search. It’s hilarious. This may not have been the greatest line in the MCU, but it’s unintentionally one of the funniest.
