Despite being advised to not tell the world his secret, Tony Stark announced that he was Iron Man. When Tony was making the announcement, he was unaware of how much his life had changed. He probably thought things would only get better. On top of being a genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, Tony Stark was a superhero with a fancy and marketable suit. Everything was looking up. That was until Nick Fury stepped in. He let Stark know that he just entered a new food chain.
When Nick Fury confronted Tony Stark in his home, Fury had been a spy for decades. He’d seen and done things Stark could only dream of. And that’s just the stuff with the Skrull and Captain Marvel. Who knows what else he saw in between then and his clandestine meeting with Stark. Since Tony wanted to let the world know who he was, Fury had to let him know what he was getting into. He was also there to make him an offer. A moment that began the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When Fury said, “I’m here to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative” he opened the door for a new world. One of heroes, superpowers, and alien invasions. This was Marvel informing us that Iron Man wasn’t the only hero they were working on. Nick Fury announced that the Avengers were coming too.
