This writer bounced around about what would make the number one spot. “I am Iron Man” “Avengers, Assemble” and “I’m here to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative” could’ve all been in this spot. They helped set up the Marvel Cinematic Universe and had significant moments pertaining to the story or character. Then there’s “Wakanda Forever.” This may have started as something catchy to say, but it became something more than that. It extends past the movies and becomes a symbol of people.

“Wakanda forever” became a chant for the disenfranchised. As a black man, T’Challa saying it made me proud. It was like he was speaking directly to this writer. He was a king who fought for his people and eventually the world. As the weeks turned into months and the months turned into a couple of years, the phrase didn’t die. It may have become stronger. Then, there was the unfortunate passing of Chadwick Boseman.

Chadwick Boseman was Jackie Robinson, James Brown, and Thurgood Marshall. All prominent black men who contributed to the world. T’Challa may have been fictional, but he had a major effect on the lives of everyone who saw the movie. When he passed, Wakanda forever was trending for a week. The entire world stopped. The phrase was built by a man who became a legend. For that reason, it’s number one. No matter what happens to the MCU going forward, Wakanda forever will forever be affiliated with a great movie and an even greater man.
