Marvel movie: Thor: Ragnarok
Thor was going through one of the worst days of his life. His father (Odin) dies, he finds out he has a sister that Odin hid from him, she broke his hammer, and he’s kidnapped and forced to fight for the pleasure of the Grandmaster. Thor has no choice but to go along with it. He gets to the arena and awaits his opponent.
To Thor’s surprise, it’s The Hulk. When everyone is expecting an epic battle, Thor greets his Avengers teammate with a jubilant response. The happiness was wiped off Thor’s face soon after that.
This was a moment that made Thor: Ragnarok great before the movie was released. Thor and Thor: The Dark World are looked at as bad movies. When Thor yelled out, “I know him! He’s a friend from work” with that huge smile, it comforted fans of the God of Thunder. It was refreshing to know this movie wasn’t going to be taken as seriously as the previous two.
In the actual movie, we saw his fate. Thor wasn’t meeting a friend and fellow Avenger. He was confronting a rival. That made the line funnier. Thor was the only person in the arena and in the theaters who thought the Hulk wasn’t going to smash.
