4. Damson Idris

Another up-and-coming superstar is Damson Idris. He most recently appeared alongside the new Captain America, Anthony Mackie, in Netflix’s science-fiction film Outside the Wire. Idris showcased his ability to play the naïve fish-out-of-water, as well as an action star. And there you already have the two halves of Kal-El.

If he starred as Superman, Idris would fit in with the alien settings — after all, he was a captive in a social media-obsessed future in Black Mirror and a victim of racism on loop in The Twilight Zone. Krypton and Kansas will be a walk in the park for Idris.

Idris looks exceptionally young, which means he can play Clark Kent over a number of years in the reboot.

3. Lewis Tan

In an alternate universe, Lewis Tan has been a major franchise star for decades. In this one, he won over fans with his honest take on Hollywood’s casting biases. His one-episode appearance on Marvel’s Iron Fist earned him more popularity than the star of the show.

The Mortal Kombat star then cameoed as Shatterstar in Deadpool 2. This actor seems destined for a lead role as a superhero – so much so that when he shared images of himself at DC offices a few years ago, the internet went into a frenzy believing he’d been cast as Dick Grayson/Nightwing.

Perhaps missing out on playing these lesser-known characters could be a steppingstone to play the Man of Steel? Did we mention Tan is a martial artist and is playing the lead in the Mortal Kombat movie? Imagine his Super-action scenes!
