The new John Cena-led HBO Max series Peacemaker is racking up quite the cast including Nhut Lee as Judomaster.

James Gunn-helmed HBO Max series Peacemaker has been adding a number of new faces to its cast as of late. Deadline reveals that Elizabeth Faith Ludlow and RIzwan Manji have been added to the cast of the DCEU spin-off in recurring roles as the characters Keeya and Jamil. Following that, however, it was revealed that Nhut Le was joining the fray as Judomaster.

We might not know much about Ludlow and Manji’s characters right now (as their character descriptions have been kept under wraps), but Judomaster has quite the history.

Who is Judomaster in Peacemaker?

Originally created by Joe Gill and Frank McLaughlin, Judomaster has gone through multiple iterations. Judomaster was a Charlton Comics character first published in November 1965 and made his first appearance in Special War Series No.4.

Initially known as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II called Hadley “Rip” Jagger, he was eventually sold to DC Comics with many of Charlton’s other superhero characters. Hadley’s son, Thomas Jagger, would also take on the mantle.

There was also another Judomaster created by Paul Kupperberg and Michael Collins in 1994. This one assisted Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, Nightshade and Peter Cannon in battle with Andreas Havoc. And, in 2007, a fourth Judomaster, Sonia Sato, debuted in Birds of Prey No.100.

It is not clear which version of Judomaster will appear in the Peacemaker series as of yet.

Peacemaker stars John Cena, Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Chris Conrad, Jennifer Holland and Robert Patrick. James Gunn is writing and directing the series. Gunn, Cena and Peter Safran are executive producers.

Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company will be producing the series in association with Warner Bros. Television. It will premiere on HBO Max in January 2022.
