2. Mephisto in the making

With White Vision and Agatha Harkness to battle, it’s clear that Wanda Maximoff has a lot to juggle in the season finale of WandaVision. However, could we still see her – or Doctor Strange, perhaps – go up against another Marvel villain?

One of the most popular choices among fans for WandaVision‘s big bad has been Marvel Comics’ Lord of Hell Mephisto. Whether or not he does ultimately surface remains to be seen but that hasn’t stopped the creative team behind WandaVision from making reference to Marvel’s answer to the devil on multiple occasions.

The reason that Mephisto has been such a topic of conversation is the fact that, in the comics, he is involved in the arrival of Wanda’s children, Tommy and Billy, as the future Young Avengers are created from fragments of his soul. And WandaVision playfully referenced that when Pietro referred to the children as “demon spawn”.

On that note, another thing that made fans suspicious is Pietro’s existence itself, with many thinking that his apparent alliance with Agatha and his playfully demonic behavior – such as pretending to frighten the kids and actually frightening Wanda – meant that he actually is Mephisto in disguise. This was also influenced by the fact that, at Halloween, he sported a hairstyle that resembled two horns and the fact that Agatha herself had a pretty demonic tomb underground – a tomb that was apparently immune to Wanda’s Westview Hex.

While we don’t yet know if Mephisto will make his presence felt, all of these references might end up leading somewhere. Remember, WandaVision is tied to Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness so perhaps the showdown with Agatha could end up unleashing the MCU’s new Big Bad into said multiverse? Sounds like a task for Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch, right?
