Who is the best character from Doctor Strange?

Marvel character: Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is this writer’s vote for best comic book origin story. He’s also the most unappreciated hero in the MCU.

When the movie began, you couldn’t help but detest Stephen Strange. He made Tony Stark look like a humble servant of the people. Stephen Strange’s eventual car accident humbled him. He spent all of his money and gave up most of his possessions to fix his hands and nothing worked. It wasn’t until he had nothing that he could start his true journey.

With such an amazing cast (Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkelsen, Tilda Swinton, and more) Benedict Cumberbatch had to bring his A-game. Being out-shined by anyone in the movie could have derailed Marvel Studios’ plans. This wasn’t like Thor. He’s one of the Avengers’ big three. Thankfully, Doctor Strange shined brighter than the portals he created.

The most impressive part is what he did with an unknown antagonist. Everyone wanted a big fight with Dormammu or Baron Mordo. Instead, we got Kaecilius. Not only was this a poor decision, but it was also a waste of Mads Mikkelsen’s talent.

Nevertheless, Doctor Strange carried the movie. Like Tony Stark in the Iron Man trilogy, Benedict Cumberbatch showed that while a great villain helps make a story, and even better hero still works.

Honorable mention: Baron Mordo
